How this result was calculated
- Convert each measured outside dimension from cm to meters.
- Per-carton CBM = length (m) × width (m) × height (m).
- Shipment CBM = sum of each carton volume × its quantity.
- 0.6 m³ ÷ 0.028316846592 = 21.1888 ft³.
Detailed breakdown
| Carton type | Dimensions (cm) | Quantity | Per carton (m³) | Total (m³) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Carton 1 | 50 × 40 × 30 | 10 | 0.06 | 0.6 |
Measure the finished outside dimensions, including any protrusions. This is geometric carton volume; pallet space, gaps, freight minimums and carrier rounding can increase billed volume.
Results retain full precision internally. CSV values are unrounded.
How to use this tool
Convert each dimension to meters. Volume per carton = length × width × height. Row volume = carton volume × quantity. Add row volumes for the shipment total. Cubic feet = cubic meters ÷ 0.028316846592.
A worked example
A 50 × 40 × 30 cm carton is 0.5 × 0.4 × 0.3 = 0.06 m³. Ten cartons total 0.6 m³, or approximately 21.19 ft³.
Put the result to work
Use the finished package's external dimensions, including bulges or protective packaging. This is geometric volume; a carrier may round measurements, apply minimum charges, or bill palletized space differently. Keep precise measurements until the final result.

How do I calculate CBM from centimeters?
Multiply length, width, and height in centimeters, then divide by 1,000,000. Multiply by the number of identical cartons.
Can I combine different carton sizes?
Yes. Add a row for each size and quantity. The calculator converts every row to cubic meters before adding the shipment total.
Does CBM tell me how much freight will cost?
No. Freight pricing can also depend on weight, route, service, minimum charges, handling, and the carrier's measurement rules.
